Why Audience Interaction Isn’t Just a Gimmick, It’s the Show

When I step on stage, I'm not the only one performing.
In fact, the real stars of the show are often sitting in the crowd, waiting to be discovered. Every show I do is built on connection. The jokes hit harder, the magic lands better, and the experience becomes unforgettable when the people in the room become part of the show.
No, that doesn’t mean putting someone on the spot or dragging up the guy who clearly wants to stay seated. I read the room. I look for the people already leaning in. The ones laughing with their table. The ones who have that childlike wonder in their eyes just a few minutes into the show. That’s who gets the spotlight. That’s who becomes the spark.

Volunteers Are the Vibe
I’ve seen a quiet accountant bring the house down with one line, had volunteers scream, cry, or immediately call someone mid-show, kids accidentally reveal the ending to a trick (hilarious), and executives absolutely steal the show. Every audience is different. Every volunteer moment is different. The unexpected keeps everyone on their toes — including me. That’s what makes every show unique and electric.

One of my all-time favorite moments happened at Amaze and Amuse, where I helped set up a live on-stage proposal. I’ve also had front row guests who never even stood up, yet became running callbacks throughout the night. They're still the star of the show. They're still part of the experience.
This Isn’t Just Crowd Work — It’s Culture Building
When your employees see their boss get fooled, when a skeptical executive ends up stunned, or when a usually quiet coworker becomes the loudest laugh in the room, something shifts.
People talk. They bond. The story becomes theirs. And it sticks.

This kind of interactive magic plays perfectly at:
Holiday parties — when everyone’s in a joyful mood and just wants to have fun
Executive retreats — where leaders can relax, recharge, and reconnect in a setting that breaks the usual workday molds
Client appreciation nights — where your brand becomes associated with surprise, energy, and fun
Real Reactions Make Real Memories
There’s a reason people come up to me after a show and say, “I can’t believe you made Steve from finance do that.” It’s not just about the trick. It’s about the moment. The spotlight. The shared laugh.
That’s the kind of magic that doesn’t just impress. It connects.
Let’s build these moments and memories at your next event.
