Turning 30 felt like hitting a milestone I never saw coming. One moment, I'm 18, thinking I've got it all figured out; the next, I'm here, realizing how much there still is to learn. Over the years, both on and off the stage, I've gathered lessons—some taught by experience, others by the unexpected turns of life. Here are 30 insights I've picked up along the way.

30 Lessons in 30 years :
People remember how you made them feel.
Failure is part of the process. Try and try again.
Say yes before you think you’re ready.
Not every opportunity is the
right opportunity. Sometimes doors close for a reason.
Don’t take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from.
Good things take time. Great things take a little longer.
The right relationship won’t distract you from your goals—they will encourage them.
Action always beats inaction.
Learn basic personal finance—budgeting, credit, and investing. Never be afraid to negotiate your salary.
Freedom equals discipline.
Side hustles can turn into full-time opportunities. Skills and experience will always be more important than a piece of paper.
Mental health is just as important as physical health.
Show up and show up early.
Laugh and travel (preferably both together) as much as you can.
Your gut feeling is usually right.
Learn people’s names.
Never stop dating your spouse.
It’s okay not to have your life figured out yet. No one really does.
Stay curious.
Take the picture but enjoy the moment.
30 years, countless shows, endless lessons. Turn your wounds into wisdom.
Celebrate the small wins.
You’re never as good or as bad as you think you are.
It’s not what you say. It’s how you say it.
Faith grows in the waiting.
Get involved in your community. Volunteer, donate, show up.
Cultivate gratitude.
Talk to strangers.
Learn how to cook a few meals (that’s an entrée and sides)—it’ll save you money and give you a chance to share something you created.
Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. Be present.
Each of these lessons has shaped who I am—both as a person and a performer. They've taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of connection. As I look ahead, I'm excited for the lessons yet to come and the magic still to be made.
