You Don’t Need the Strongest Trick to Close the Show

I don’t have one “set” closer for my show.
Sometimes I end with a high energy, freak out moment. Sometimes with a routine that gets a huge laugh. Sometimes with a quiet, emotional story that pulls everything together and keeps people thinking.

But here’s the truth: the trick I close with isn’t always the "strongest" one.
It’s the one that leaves people feeling something.
A great finale isn’t just a spectacle. It’s a summary. It should echo the tone of the whole show. It’s your final word, your "mic drop moment", the thing people carry with them on the drive home.
That’s why I shift my closer depending on the room. A corporate crowd might need a big laugh and a team moment. A theater audience might be ready for something softer, more story-driven. I read the energy and choose what I want them to remember.
Flashy doesn’t mean finale. Emotional impact lasts longer than applause.

And if you’re building a show — whether it’s magic, music, or something else entirely — ask yourself: what do you want people to say about the experience the next day?
Because that’s the real closer.
