How Magic Built My Confidence (And How It Can Build Yours Too)

Magic started changing my confidence when I was about twelve or thirteen years old.
I wouldn’t say I struggled with confidence. I just wanted a reason for people to pay attention. A way to step into a room and feel like I belonged there. Learning magic gave me that.
As a teenager, magic taught me how to speak clearly, present ideas, and read the room. It taught me how to recover when something didn’t go perfectly and how to keep moving forward when a moment surprised me. Those skills stuck.

Confidence didn’t come from being flawless. It came from learning how to roll with the punches.
Magic also taught me how to break the ice. A simple trick can change the tone of a conversation instantly. It gives people something to react to together. That’s why I genuinely believe everyone should learn a trick. It’s one of the easiest ways to connect with people.
Those lessons carried into adulthood. Into events. Into hosting. Into conversations with people I’d never met before who lived and thought very differently. Magic gave me a framework for showing up with intention instead of hesitation. Confidence isn’t about being the loudest person in the room. It’s about being present, prepared, and willing to engage. Magic taught me that.
