Purpose Driven
Some moments are too powerful to leave off the stage.
For Trino, one of those moments is talking about his little brother, Luc.
He was a talented bass guitarist, creative writer and compassionate volunteer. On June 24th, 2021, Luc was alone when his actions led to fatal injuries. He suffered third-degree burns over his entire body. He miraculously survived, knew he made a mistake and called for help. Luc passed away surrounded by family at the hospital.
Luc was NOT DONE.
In the months that followed, Trino struggled with even the basics. He stopped performing and avoided going out, overwhelmed by grief and fear of panic attacks. But over time, he felt a clear calling to keep going — to carry his brother’s legacy, to support young artists and performers, to make beauty from broken.
That’s why he and his family founded Luc’s Light, a nonprofit offering no-cost music and art lessons to teens in Southwest Michigan. Built by a community of people who care, Luc’s Light provides a safe space where students can find their voice through music, dance, painting and other creative outlets.
Luc was not done. And neither are we.
Trino shares this story as a Christ-follower who believes that even in the deepest pain, God can create purpose — and that wonder is one of the ways God reminds us we’re not alone.
